Cloudflare offers several ways to manage and deliver your website. If your site is on a DataPacket shared hosting plan, we recommend using Cloudflare for DNS only, with the proxy turned off.
When the proxy is enabled, website traffic reaches our server through Cloudflare’s IP addresses. This can create a gap in our server-level security, and blocking one of those addresses to stop harmful traffic could also block visitors to other websites on the same shared server.
You can use Cloudflare for DNS by setting your website’s records to DNS only (the gray cloud). If you would like a CDN, DataPacket’s own CDN service is available for shared hosting sites. If you prefer to use Cloudflare’s proxy (the orange cloud), a VPS or dedicated server is a better fit because it gives you more control over your server’s security settings.
