How to Activate the DataPacket CDN in Plesk
The DataPacket CDN helps your website load faster by serving your site from multiple locations around the world nearest to the visitor, instead of only from one server. This means visitors connect to the edge server closest to them, which improves loading speed and reliability.
DataPacket currently operates edge servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, helping your website load quickly for visitors across most populated regions of the world.
To activate the CDN, first log in to your Plesk control panel. After logging in, go to Websites & Domains and select the domain you want to use with the CDN.
Next, click on the Hosting & DNS tab and then click DNS. This page allows you to add or edit DNS records for your domain.
Click Add Record and create a new CNAME record. For the domain name enter cdn-activate. For the canonical name enter activate.interlayer.net. After adding the record, click OK/Apply and then click Update to save the change.
Once the record is saved, our system will automatically detect the request and begin preparing your domain for the CDN. At this stage your domain may be placed in a short activation queue while the system checks your domain’s nameservers.
After completing that step, you should now update your domain to use the DataPacket CDN nameservers. The nameservers to use are:
zoom.interlayer.net
vroom.interlayer.net
These nameserver changes are made at the company where your domain name is registered.
When our system detects that your domain is using the CDN nameservers, the remaining setup will happen automatically. This includes creating the CDN DNS zone, issuing an SSL certificate, and enabling the edge servers that will deliver your website from locations closest to your visitors.
After activation is complete, your website will begin loading through the DataPacket CDN.
Helpful Tips
If you update content on your website and do not see the change right away, you can add ?nocache=1 to the end of the page URL in your browser. This forces the CDN to fetch a fresh copy of the page.
DNS changes may take some time to spread across the internet. In most cases nameserver updates are detected within a few minutes, but in some cases it can take a few hours.
