This article will guide you through the process of installing Windows Server 2019 on your VPS with RDP Access. This article assumes that you have basic experience installing Windows. If you're not comfortable installing Windows yourself, you may open a ticket and request a tech to install Windows for you.
Before starting you will need to obtain your network settings; IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS resolvers. Your IP details are displayed in your VPS panel under the "Network Manager" tab. Our DNS resolvers are "169.197.183.2" and "169.197.183.3".
To get started login to your VPS control panel and click on the "Manage button" next to the VPS that you want to install Windows on. Click on the "Rebuild tab" and under the Operating System ISO menu select the "Windows Server 2019 ISO", under hostname enter a name for this VPS. When you are ready to begin click on the "Rebuild button".
When the rebuild process is complete you'll be taken back to the VPS panel dashboard. Click on the "Manage button" next to the VPS and click the "Start server button". Once the VPS has started, click on the "Console tab" and then click on the "Open VNC console button". You will now see the Windows installation menu and can begin the setup of Windows.
Once Windows has been installed the first thing you'll need to do is setup the Network connection. In your VNC console right click on the "Network icon" in the taskbar and click "Open network settings" and then click on "Change adapter settings". The Network connections windows will open, right click on the Network connection and click "Properties" and then enter your network settings under "Internet protocol version 4".
Once the network connection is activated it's imperative that you install all Windows updates to fix RDP connection and stability issues. Click on the "Search icon" located on the taskbar next to the Windows Start button and type "Updates", a "Check for updates" option will appear. Click to open and proceed with installing updates, and reboot when complete.
Once the VPS has rebooted you can now enable RDP access and enable the necessary the firewall permissions. The "Windows Server Manager" should be open, click on "Local server" and click on "Disabled" next to Remote Desktop. The System Properties window will open, click on "Allow remote connections to this computer". A Warning window will open to enable firewall exceptions for remote desktop. Click on the "Windows Firewall with advanced security" link to open the firewall and then click on "Inbound rules". Scroll down to the remote desktop rules, right click and click enable rule for each remote desktop rule and then close the firewall application. You will now see the System Properties window again, click "apply and OK button" to finish setting up RDP access.
The install is complete. Windows has been setup and configured with RDP access.
