We are often asked if Windows and RDP (Remote Desktop) are supported under our VPS plans. A DataPacket VPS can run Windows and be accessed remotely using RDP, giving you a full Windows desktop or server environment for whatever tasks you choose.
Bring your own Windows license
If you own a Windows Server license, you can activate the server with your key. If you prefer a provider-supplied license, contact Support and we can advise on available options.
Installing Windows on your VPS
You can select your preferred Windows version during checkout and the VPS will be provisioned accordingly. If you ever want a clean slate or a different version later, you can reinstall from your VPS control panel and choose the Windows release you want. From your computer, open Remote Desktop Connection, enter the VPS public IP, and sign in with the Administrator credentials you set.
Performance sizing
Choose vCPU, RAM, and NVMe storage based on your workload. You can start modestly and resize later as your needs grow. Larger amounts of CPU cores and memory help with heavier multitasking and application workloads.
