Does DataPacket Offer SSH Access Print

  • 667

Understanding our customers' needs is our top priority. A common query we receive is whether we offer SSH (Secure Shell) access with our hosting plans. This article aims to provide clarity on this matter.

Overview of SSH (Secure Shell)

SSH (Secure Shell) is a cryptographic network protocol for secure data communication, remote command execution, and other network services between two computer systems. It's primarily used by network administrators to securely access and manage servers and networks.

SSH Access with DataPacket

1. VPS Hosting and Dedicated Server Hosting (Linux):

SSH Access: Yes

Type of Access: Full root SSH access

Details: Customers who have opted for our VPS hosting and dedicated server hosting under Linux will be provided with full root SSH access by default. This means you have complete control and administrative access to your server, allowing for extensive customizations and configurations.

2. Web Hosting and Reseller Hosting Plans:

SSH Access: No

Details: For security and management reasons, SSH access is not provided under our web hosting or reseller hosting plans. These plans are managed in such a way that SSH access isn't required for day-to-day operations.

Why is SSH Not Offered for Shared Hosting Plans?

It's crucial to maintain the security and stability of our servers. For shared web hosting and reseller hosting plans, most tasks can be accomplished using the provided control panel without needing direct server access. Moreover, by restricting SSH access, we can minimize potential security threats and ensure the optimal performance of these shared environments.
